Jean-Christophe Renault, born on March 22, 1960, in Liège, Belgium, is a pianist and composer. He began playing piano at the age of seven, influenced by his grandmother's classical training and his father's collection of Russian music. After studying classical piano in France and Belgium, he shifted to jazz, taking composition lessons from Frederic Rzewski. Renault's first album, Valse pour Clotilde, was released in 1982 with Jacques Pelzer and Steve Houben. He continued releasing albums throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Ganga (1983), Touche à Touche – Piano Solo (1985), and Charmant de sable (1987) with Véronique Gillet. Renault's work spans various genres, from jazz to classical adaptations of poetry by W.B. Yeats. He has performed extensively internationally, including tours in Brazil, Eastern Europe, and Italy. In 2020, he released Ears Have No Eyelids on the label Flak.
