Rat At Rat R was a noise-rock and No Wave band formed in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1981 by guitarist Victor Poison-tete. The quartet relocated to Philadelphia and then to New York City's Lower East Side. Their debut album, Amer$ide / Rock & Roll is Dead, Long Live Rat at Rat R, was released in 1985 and marked their entry into the NYC noise rock scene alongside contemporaries such as Sonic Youth, Swans, and Live Skull. The band frequently performed at CBGB’s and had musical links to avant-garde No Wave composer Glenn Branca; Branca's cousin, Sonda Andersson, played bass in Rat At Rat R until leaving in 1988 to join Live Skull. Their self-titled album Rat At Rat R, produced by David Sardy, was released in 1991. The band disbanded in 1991. Drummer David Rat later moved to Argentina in 2012, and then to Brazil. Their debut album was reissued on Finland's Ektro Records in 2012.
