Dominique Fillon, born on February 25, 1968, in Le Mans, France, is a French jazz pianist and composer. He grew up with classical music and began playing the piano at age 11 as a self-taught musician. After performing in rock and pop-rock bands such as Deux points à la ligne and Orgon, he focused on jazz after meeting pianists Philippe Duchemin and Guislain Deppe. He studied music at the jazz school in Le Mans and at the American School in Paris starting in 1988. After starting his career in Parisian clubs, he worked with artists such as Secret Talk, Bruce Johnson, Angélique Kidjo, Ralph Thamar, Jimmy Cliff, Mônica Passos, Ladja, Lokua Kanza, Sara Tavares, and Viktor Lazlo. He accompanied Bernard Lavilliers on stage for three years and Michel Fugain for five years. His work also includes producing music, such as the album Zambouya for Marijosé Alie, as well as scores for television films, theater, documentaries, and short films. Under his own name, his debut album, Détours, was released in 2007. Subsequent album releases include Americas (2010), featuring guests Youn Sun Nah, Ulf Wakenius, and Olivier Roman-Garcia, As It Comes (2012) with Francis Arnaud and Kevin Reveyrand, and Born in 68 (2014). He completed several tours in Southeast Asia and performed in Japan with Kazumi Watanabe, Yuji Toriyama, the Aun-J Orchestra, Ryo Sonoda, Momoko Yuasa, and Tamaru. In 2012, he participated in the first UNESCO International Jazz Day with his quartet, and also performed with Nicole Slack Jones, Ben Williams, and Terri Lyne Carrington. He released his trio album, Awaiting Ship, in 2021 under the Klarthe label.
