Southpacific, a Canadian post-rock/space rock band with prominent shoegaze leanings, was formed in 1997 by multi-instrumentalists Joachim Toelke, Graeme Fleming, and Phil Stewart-Bowes. The trio began playing live in 1998 and released their first mini-album 33 in 1998. Southpacific soon relocated to Toronto and recorded their full-length album Constance, which was released in 1999. The band performed at the 1999 Canadian Music Week Festival and embarked on a cross-Canada tour between April and May 2000. Their last performance was on August 26, 2000. Southpacific disbanded in 2000. In February 2023, the band released an EP, Radar Road, recorded in Toelke’s basement and produced by Fleming.
