The Little Flames were an English indie rock band from Hoylake formed in December 2004. The lineup consisted of vocalist Eva Petersen, guitarists Miles Kane and Mat Gregory, bassist Joe Edwards, and drummer Greg Mighall. Their musical style combined garage rock with 1960s influences. They released their debut single, “Goodbye Little Rose” (2004), followed by “Put Your Dukes Up John” (2005). The latter track reached wider recognition after being covered by the group Arctic Monkeys. The band performed on tour with acts including The Zutons and The Coral before issuing the single “Isobella” (2007). The ensemble disbanded on May 15, 2007, prior to the release of their first full-length recording. Kane, Edwards, and Mighall subsequently formed the band The Rascals, while Petersen pursued a solo career. Their debut studio album, The Day Is Not Today (2016), was eventually released nine years after their dissolution.
