Café Guancasco was a Honduran experimental protest music band founded in 2006 by Pavelón Cruz and Pavelín Núñez. Influenced by the Beatles, Víctor Jara, Silvio Rodríguez, and Sui Generis, the duo performed in Tegucigalpa before their official debut in Trinidad, Honduras. In May 2008, the group expanded into a full ensemble. Following the 2009 Honduran coup d'état, the band gained recognition as “La banda de la Resistencia”. Their debut album, De tributos, guancascos y otras luchas, was released in November 2009 and became one of the country's most widely distributed recordings. The repertoire included the songs "Calle Goldin Meyer" and "La Rebelión de las Marionetas". The group collaborated with artists such as Cultura Profética and Vicente Feliú and released the audiovisual work Café Guancasco 1.5 in 2013. Núñez left the band in 2017 due to health issues, leaving Cruz as the lead vocalist and composer.
