Game Theory was an American power pop band founded in 1982 by singer/songwriter Scott Miller. Based in Davis, California, the group initially consisted of Miller, Nancy Becker, Fred Juhos, and Michael Irwin. Their debut album, Blaze of Glory, was released on Rational Records in 1982. The following year saw the release of the EP Pointed Accounts of People You Know. In 1984, Game Theory released their second full-length album, Dead Center, followed by Real Nighttime in 1985. The band's music was characterized by melodic jangle pop combined with experimental production and hyperliterate lyrics. Scott Miller passed away in 2013. In 2014, Omnivore Recordings began reissuing the band's catalog, which had been out of print for years. Miller's completed album Supercalifragile was posthumously released in 2017.
