Mihaela Valentina Runceanu, born on May 4, 1955, in Buzău, Romania, was a Romanian pop singer and singing teacher. She graduated from the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Conservatory in Bucharest in 1978 and began her musical journey with a song broadcast on the radio in 1976. Runceanu taught violin at various schools before becoming a vocal technique teacher at the Popular School of Arts in Bucharest in 1980. She launched several hits, including "De-ar fi să vii" and "Fericirea are chipul tău". Her self-titled debut album was released by Electrecord in December 1987. On November 1, 1989, Runceanu was murdered in her Bucharest home. An annual pop music festival named The Mihaela Runceanu Music Festival is held in Buzău in her honor.
