3 Point Landing sets the tone with their remarkable and infectious music. The roof was blown off at AFAS Live during their after-show for YUNGBLUD, and in 2022 they were runner-up at the Rob Acda Award in the Patronaat Haarlem. Thanks to their impressive live shows and defining sound, they have already won Popmania and The Mixtream Contest. Now they're rocking on with their album SHADOW WORK.
Actually a genre of its own, the band's style is described as alternative, synthesizer rock, electronic pop, and indie grunge. Founded in 2017 in Alkmaar by Dora van den Berg (singer, keytarist), Tim Commandeur (bassist), and Emiel Schumacher (drummer). As soon as the trio found each other, it was fireworks. They quickly ditched the guitar for a keytar, with which they created a grand, immersive and synth-driven unique sound. Twenty One Pilots, Imagine Dragons, Muse, and Depeche Mode, as well as the cinematic music of Hans Zimmer, are just some of their influences.
With a successful Crowdfunding campaign, 3 Point Landing recorded their music between lockdowns. This album was self-produced with Ferry Dinkelaar and recorded at Wiserock Sound Studios. The album title, derived from the name-sharing concept of "Shadow Work," represents the exploration of our dark side. Instead of suppressing these ‘shadows’, the deepest, sometimes ugly, inner world is embraced and expressed. Within it, each song is a world unto itself, tackling profound themes such as social pressure, inner demons, manipulation, authenticity, and self-love.
"Shadow Work" can be listened to as a spooky fairy tale. In a forest of dark electronics, singer Dora van den Berg searches for light, thickly accompanied by the talents of Tim Commandeur and Emiel Schumacher. As a trio, they avoid treacherous paths, keep monsters at bay, and exorcise ghosts, combining clear song structures with experimental elements that ultimately lead to the climax, where light and shadow can coexist in harmony.
