Clarisse Lavanant was born on April 2, 1979, in Le Mans, and is a French and Breton-speaking singer-songwriter and actress. She began writing songs as a teenager and moved to Paris at 18 to pursue a career in music. In 2001, she released her debut album, Où c'est ailleurs?, before joining the cast of the musical The Ten Commandments as Zipporah, Moses' wife, which led to extensive tours in France and internationally. Lavanant later developed a strong connection with Breton music and culture, collaborating extensively with guitarist Dan Ar Braz. She has released numerous albums, including a trilogy dedicated to Breton singer-songwriter Glenmor, Harmonie (2017) with Dan Ar Braz, and Kan ar Yezh (2024), her first album composed entirely in Breton. She has also collaborated with artists including Tri Yann, Soldat Louis, and Jean-Félix Lalanne, while continuing to perform as a solo artist. Her work has earned several distinctions, including the Sacem Prize, a Charles Cros Academy award, and two Grand Prix du Disque du Télégramme.
