Wannabe Jalva, a space groove rock band, was formed in Porto Alegre by Tiago Abrahão on guitar/bass/seq, Felipe Puperi on vocal/guitar, Rafael Rocha on vocal/guitar/bass and Fernando Paulista on drums. They began their career playing "uterus space-groove rock" and quickly gained local recognition. In 2011, Wannabe Jalva released their debut EP Welcome to Jalva, which included the hit single "Follow It," featured on an episode of CSI: NY. That year, they performed at the inaugural MECAFestival alongside Two Door Cinema Club and Vampire Weekend, and opened for Pearl Jam and X at Zequinha Stadium. In 2013, Wannabe Jalva released their single "The Way" and performed at Lollapalooza Brazil in São Paulo. Their EP Collecture was released in 2014, showcasing a lo-fi groove with walls of reverb driving through simple grooves.
