The Married Monk, a French rock band originating from Rennes, was formed in 1993 around Christian Quermalet, Philippe Lebruman, and Franck Dorange. The group initially released There's the Rub in 1993 and followed it with an EP titled Get On in 1994. Their debut album, The Jim Side, was released in 1996 under Rosebud/Barclay. The band later moved to Paris and saw several lineup changes over the years, with Christian Quermalet remaining as the sole original member. Notable albums include R/O/C/K/Y (2001), which featured collaborations with Joey Burns of Calexico and Yann Tiersen, and The Belgian Kick (2004). Ten years after the release of their fifth album, Elephant People (2008), The Married Monk released the Headgearalienpoo in 2018. Throughout their career, they collaborated on various projects, including the opera pop Elephant People, which toured France between 2008 and 2009.
