Opus Avantra, an Italian band formed in Veneto in 1973, combined various genres and is sometimes classified as Italian progressive rock and avant-prog. The group consisted of soprano Donella Del Monaco, pianist-composer Alfredo Tisocco, philosopher Giorgio Bisotto, and producer Renato Marengo. Their first album, Opus Avantra Donella Del Monaco, was released in 1974 under the Trident label. In 1975, they released their concept album Lord Cromwell Plays Suite For Seven Vices, which explored the theme of the Seven Deadly Sins. The band's name reflects their ideology of blending avant-garde music with traditional elements. Notable singles include "Il Pavone" (1974) and "Allemanda" (1975).
