Susanna Marie Cork, born 18 February 1989 in Harlow, Essex, England, is an English singer and songwriter who performs under the name SuRie. Trained at the Royal Academy of Music, she began writing songs at the age of twelve and performed as a child soloist, later appearing at venues including the Royal Albert Hall and St. Paul’s Cathedral. SuRie released her debut EP SuRie on 7 July 2016, followed by Out of Universe on 13 September 2016 and her first full-length album Something Beginning With… on 2 December 2016. In 2017 she released the single “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over”. Her single “Storm” was released on 7 March 2018 and won the British national selection Eurovision: You Decide, enabling her to represent the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon. The performance, which was interrupted by a protester, was completed and received widespread media coverage. SuRie’s work has been released digitally and on CD through the label MMP, and she has continued to perform and record within the pop genre.
