Al Copley is an American blues pianist, singer and arranger born in 1952 in Buffalo, New York. Born Almon LeGrande Copley, he co-founded the group Roomful of Blues and remained a member for 16 years. He launched a solo career in the 1980s and released the albums A Handful of Keys (1986), Ooh-Wow!! (1987) and Acoustic 88 (1988). His subsequent recordings included the studio albums Royal Blue (1991) and Good Understanding (1993), as well as the recording Live at Montreux (1994). Copley has performed as an opening act for musicians including Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan and Etta James. In 2002 and 2009, he performed his own symphonic orchestrations with the Boston Festival Orchestra. He received two Grammy Award nominations in 1983 and 1984 in the category of Best Traditional Blues Album. His later recordings included the albums Stardust (2010) and Here's to Life (2017).
