Air Castles was a British indie pop band based in London established in 2008. The ensemble was founded as a solo project by Swedish-born singer-songwriter Max Mansson. Their recording career began with the debut extended play Night and Day (2008), which was released through Mansson's label Winter Hymns Records. The work reached professional recognition after receiving coverage in publications including The Guardian and Rock Sound. Mansson subsequently expanded the project into a trio with musicians Luke South and Jonathan Rogers. The ensemble performed at the Glastonbury Festival in 2011 on the BBC Introducing stage and performed an international tour of Europe with the band Last Days of April. Their discography included the debut studio recording Lights (2012), which was produced by Mansson and musician Magnus Lindberg. The ensemble released the single "Gold" (2011). Air Castles was included on the roster of the booking agency Pitch & Smith, and Mansson signed a publishing contract with Mars Music AB in 2011. The group became inactive in 2012.
