Sylvain Barou, born in 1978 in Pontoise, France, is a flutist whose interest in music was brought by an early exposure to the violin at age 12 with uilleann pipes and later with Breton flutes under Jean‑Michel Veillon. His first solo project emerged in 2012 with the album Sylvain Barou, featuring collaborations with Donal Lunny, Gilles Le Bigot, and John Doyle. Subsequent releases included Triad (2013) with Dónal Lunny and Padraig Rynne, Morenn (2014) with Xavier Boderiou and Jacques Pellen, and The Last Days of Fall (2018) with Jacques Pellen. Barou recorded on more than 50 albums for artists such as Denez Prigent, Dan Ar Braz, and Keyvan Chemirani.
