Jaan Tätte is an Estonian playwright, actor, and singer born on March 24, 1964, in Viljandi. He established a foundation in biology at the University of Tartu before studying acting at the Tallinn Conservatory, from which he graduated in 1990. That year, he joined the ensemble of the Tallinn City Theatre, where he also served as a dramatist beginning in 2003. Tätte’s literary career featured the successful play Ristumine peateega (1998). His recording career specialized in folk and pop music, beginning with the collaborative album Majakavahi armuhüüd (2000). The discography included the solo and collaborative albums Mine mine (2001), Olemine (2004), Tulemine (2009), Äratund (2012), and Peatus (2014). Tätte also released the live albums Laulude õhtu Vana kuub (2005) and Tuulevaiksel ööl (2010). His professional activity received the Estonian Cultural Capital Stipendium (1996), the Literature Prize of the Baltic Assembly (2002), and the Order of the White Star (2004).
