Wünjo was a French nu metal and punk rock group from Paris, Île-de-France, formed in 1997. Initially performing under the name Nomad in 1998, the band changed its name to Wünjo around 1999 and joined the collective Team Nowhere. Its breakthrough came with the release of the EP Ventoline (2000), which sold over 5,000 copies and led to tours with international acts such as Anthrax and Motörhead, as well as French bands AqME, Pleymo, and Enhancer. In 2003, the group signed with the label At(h)ome and released its debut studio album, Extralucide (2003), which featured a mix of melodic, spoken, and aggressive vocals. Its second studio album, Resistance Deluxe, was released on April 25, 2005, and received positive reviews from the music press. The band disbanded in 2008, after which members Mathieu Dottel and Nicolas Nottey formed the group Bukowski, and vocalist Flavien Cheminant joined Vera Cruz.
