Absolute Grey was an American alternative rock-jangle pop band formed in Rochester, New York, in September 1983. The group consisted of drummer Pat Thomas, guitarist Matt Kitchen, vocalist Beth Brown, and bassist Mitchell Rasor. Their debut release was a six-song cassette, followed by the mini-LP Green House in 1984. Absolute Grey signed to Midnight Records and released their album, What Remains, produced by Tim Lee of The Windbreakers, in 1986. The band's lineup changed over time, with Thomas leaving in 1987 and Kitchen departing shortly after. Brown and Rasor continued as a duo, releasing the acoustic EP Painted Post in 1987. Absolute Grey disbanded in 1990. Notable releases include an expanded reissue of A Journey Thru the Past in 2001 and a remixed edition of Green House (20th Anniversary Edition) with a bonus disc of live recordings in 2003.
