Kohllapse is an Australian gothic-doom metal band formed in Canberra in the early 1990s. The group emerged from a death-metal background, with its lineup mainly consisting of guitarist and vocalist Ro Edwards and drummer and keyboardist Matt Aitchison. Their self-titled debut album, Kohllapse (1996), introduced a blend of death, doom, gothic, and electronic elements, earning a feature in HM Magazine as the “Pick of the Litter” in 1997. The band followed with the C.Y.E demo (1997). They recorded and released Distant Mind Alternative (1999), which was distributed through Nuclear Blast and later re-issued by Soundmass in 2005. A music video was shot for the song “Thorn” and featured on Heaven's Metal Video Magazine. After Aitchison's departure, the group disbanded in 2001.
