Mirage, a British dance and pop group formed in 1983, emerged from Nigel Wright's earlier project Enigma, which had produced the medley “Ain't No Stopping” (1981) that reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart. The group's first charting single was the 1984 release “Give Me the Night”, a medley of George Benson songs sung by Leroy Osbourne under the guise of Roy Gayle, which reached number 49 on the UK Singles Chart. That same year, they released the single “Let's Groove (Medley)” (1984), which reached number 81. In 1985, they released the single “Into the Groove (Medley)” (1985), which reached number 87. In 1987, during the house music wave, Mirage released the single “Jack Mix” (1987), followed by “Jack Mix II/III” (1987), which peaked at number 4 on the UK Singles Chart, and “Jack Mix IV” (1987), which reached number 8. Although their popularity waned, they scored subsequent minor hits, including “Jack Mix VII” (1988), which reached number 50, and “House Attack” (1989), which reached number 84, before the group eventually disbanded in 1993.
