Grupo Karicia was a cumbia group from Argentina, formed in 1991 by José Berrocal, Carlos Chávez, and Esteban Pozú. Their debut album Karicia (1991) featured hits like "Chica sexy" and "Quinceañera", achieving gold status within two months. The group released several successful albums, including 1, 2, 3 Karicia otra vez in 1992 and El poder del ritmo in 1993. Internal conflicts led to the departure of Berrocal and Pozú in 1995, who formed Karakol. Chávez continued with Karicia, releasing Los Generales de la cumbia. Disputes with their representative resulted in Chávez leaving the band in 1996. Despite these changes, Grupo Karicia remained influential, with their music celebrated across Latin America and Nordic countries.
