Mico Nissim, born on June 20, 1947, in Nice, France, is a French pianist and composer of Sephardic-Greek heritage. He received classical piano training and founded his first jazz band, Les Autres, in 1964. After completing an engineering degree in Nantes, Nissim taught mathematics from 1970 to 1974, including a year in Ziguinchor, Senegal. He transitioned to a full-time music career in 1974, working as an accompanist for various entertainers such as Sacha Distel and Font et Val. Nissim joined the Orchestre National de Jazz from 1989 to 1991 under Claude Barthélemy. His notable albums include Décaphonie (1996) and Ornette Dolphy Tribute Conséquences (2009). He has also composed for film, theater, and various ensembles, including the Batterie Fanfare of the Police nationale. Nissim has taught at the Saint Cloud Conservatory.
