Pierre Chêne, a French singer-songwriter, storyteller, and ventriloquist, began his career in 1976. He began performing for young audiences in 1976 and started recording albums in 1978, eventually releasing numerous children's records that became popular in French-speaking educational and family settings. Throughout his career, he performed widely across France, appearing in cultural centers, theaters, children's song festivals, the Palais des Congrès, and the Olympia. Alongside his children's repertoire, he also wrote songs for adults, including tributes to Victor Jara and Georges Brassens. His discography includes children's albums such as The Bird and the Bubble, The Little Bearded Man, The Tightrope Walker, I've Got Some Ideas Up My Sleeve, Draw Me a Smile, When Grandpa Plays Rock, The House of Balthazar, I Will Never Be a Poet, and It Was a Small Planet, as well as compilation releases like Songs to Make You Laugh and Smile and Songs to Dream By. Over the years, he collaborated with musicians including double bassists Pierre Mortarelli, Bernard Tessier, and Pierre Nicolas, as well as pianist and orchestrator Roger Pouly.
