The Provincial Archive, a Canadian indie pop group based in Edmonton, Alberta, was formed in 2009. The band's initial lineup included Craig Schram, Nathan Burge, and Ryan Podlubny, who were later joined briefly by drummer Dave Meagher and then Bramwell Park. Their debut album, Nameless Places, was released locally in 2009. The Provincial Archive gained traction with their second album, Maybe We Could Be Holy, in 2010, supported by a cross-Canada tour that included performances in provincial archive buildings across eight provinces. In 2014, the band released It's All Shaken Wonder—in Germany in May and in North America on August 19—through Black Box Music and won the Edmonton Music Prize on December 1. Following member departures, the group downsized to a trio, with Stephen Tchir replacing Podlubny. Their self-titled EP, The Provincial Archive, was released in November 2015, produced by Nik Kozub. The band's music has been compared to artists such as R.E.M., The Shins, early Weezer, and Elliott Smith.
