Schammasch, a Swiss black metal band from Basel, was formed in 2009. The group emerged from the remnants of the predecessor band Totenwinter, with founder C.S.R. taking the initiative. Schammasch released their debut album Sic Lvceat Lux in late 2010 via Black Tower Productions. Four years later, they signed with Prosthetic Records for their second album Contradiction. The band's third album, Triangle, was released in April 2016 and featured a 100-minute runtime. It led to a European tour covering 16 countries and earned Schammasch a nomination for the Basler Pop-Preis, ultimately winning the public vote. In November 2019, their fourth album Hearts of No Light charted in various categories on the US Billboard charts.
