Alerta Kamarada, a Colombian reggae group from Bogotá, formed in 1996. Initially conceived as a ska band, the group shifted toward reggae two years later and became an important force in Colombia’s reggae scene. They released their debut album, Alerta, in 2004, followed by Somos Uno (2006), recorded in Jamaica and produced by Sly Dunbar. Later releases included Kaliente (2009) and Historias de Pueblo (2010), which featured guest appearances from musicians including Alfredo Gutiérrez and Charley Anderson. Alerta Kamarada performed at Rock al Parque and shared stages with Alpha Blondy, UB40, and Julian Marley. Founding percussionist Daladier Arismendi died in 2014. The group ended in 2022 after bassist Pablo Araoz’s departure.
