Urgent was formed in New York, U.S.A in 1984 by brothers Michael Kehr, Don Kehr, and Steve Kehr, with Yul Vazquez on lead guitar and Klyph Black on bass, and debuted with the single "Running Back" in 1985, which reached Number 79 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band signed to Manhattan Records, a newly created EMI subsidiary, and released their self‑titled debut album Urgent that same year, produced by Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson. In 1987 the group issued Thinking Out Loud, produced by Tom Allom, and promoted the single "Can't Take It No More", but the album failed to chart and the band dissolved the same year. After the split, members pursued various projects: Yul Vazquez transitioned to acting with roles in The Mambo Kings and Seinfeld, while Don Kehr released a solo album Shift in 2005 and appeared in Jersey Boys. In 2008 Michael Kehr and Don Kehr reunited to write new material, including the track "Falling".
