Unterbiberger Hofmusik, a group from Munich, Germany, was formed in 1992. The ensemble, primarily consisting of the Himpsl family, is known for blending traditional Bavarian folk music with jazz elements. Franz Josef and Irene Himpsl are the central figures; both initially trained in classical music but transitioned to folk and jazz genres. Their breakthrough came in 1994 when they collaborated with Brazilian trumpeter Claudio Roditi, leading to their first album Bajazzo in 1995. The group's subsequent albums include Vivamus (1997), Made in U.S.A. (1998), and The 4th (2002). Notable collaborations feature Roditi, Jay Ashby, and Hannes Läubin. Unterbiberger Hofmusik has toured extensively, performing in countries such as the United States, Turkey, Russia, India, and Egypt. Their album Bavaturka (2012) marked a fusion of Bavarian and Turkish folk music. The group's live program "Dahoam und Retour" reflected their global influences.
