Shylmagoghnar is a Dutch melodic black metal and death metal band from Zuid-Limburg, formed in 2004 by Nimblkorg and Skirge as a high school project. The band’s unusual name was created from syllables chosen for their personal resonance and otherworldly sound, with its meaning kept secret. After years of developing their music and producing their work independently, they released their debut album Emergence in 2014, leading to a worldwide contract with Napalm Records in 2016. Their second album, Transience, followed in 2018, while Convergence was released in 2023 after Skirge’s departure left Nimblkorg continuing as a solo artist. Shylmagoghnar’s music blends melodic black metal and death metal with influences from classical, electronic, and video game soundtracks, drawing inspiration from artists such as Immortal, Dimmu Borgir, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Edvard Grieg.
