Balbina Monika Jagielska, known professionally as Balbina, was born on May 13, 1983, in Warsaw, Poland, and is a German-Polish singer, composer, and lyricist. She moved to Berlin at age three and later settled in Berlin-Neukölln. Balbina began writing poems and songs during her elementary school years and started performing in local clubs. Her musical career took off with the release of her debut album Bina in 2011, which she collaborated on with Biztram. She gained further recognition by opening for acts like Herbert Grönemeyer. Her cover of "Sonne" was featured in Nike's global "Heroes" campaign in 2019. This collaboration made Balbina the first German artist to contribute a song to the brand. She received the "Goldener Nagel" award from ADC Deutschland and the Deutscher Musikautorenpreis for her work on "Sonne". Balbina was signed to Sony Music Entertainment before launching her own label, Polkadot, in 2020, and she released her album, Punkt.
