Profetus, a Finnish funeral doom metal band from Tampere, was founded in 2006 by Anssi Mäkinen and S. Kujansuu during the winter solstice. Their first demo Saturnine featured "The Skull of Silence" and "Winter Solstice", produced by Eppe Kuismin. Profetus released their debut album Coronation of the Black Sun in April 2009 via Rusty Crowbar Records, followed by ...To Open the Passages in Dusk in 2012 through Weird Truth Productions. Subsequent releases include the EP As All Seasons Die (2014) and the album The Sadness of Time Passing (2019).
