Markize, a French gothic metal band from Paris, was formed in 2003 by Alina Dunaevskaya and David Verbecq. The group's music blended elements of pop with gothic metal, featuring catchy guitar riffs, electronic beats, and classical violins. Their debut album Transparence was released in 2007. Markize gained traction by participating in the compilation Contre vents et marées of French Metal in 2006 and performing at the Metal Female Voices Fest. The band's music video for "Mon ange" was broadcast on major television channels, including MTV and MCM. In April 2009, Transparence was reissued with bonus tracks. Markize performed with Tarja Turunen on her European tour in 2010-2011. Their second album, A Perfect Lie, was released in 2012 and included the single "Mechanical Hearts".
