Moss Icon, formed in late 1986, is an American post-hardcore band, from Annapolis, Maryland. The original lineup included vocalist Jonathan Vance, guitarist Tonie Joy, bassist Monica DiGialleonardo, and drummer Mark Laurence. Alex Badertscher joined as the second guitarist in 1990. Moss Icon released their debut single "Hate in Me" in 1988, followed by the EP Mahpiua Luta the next year. Their first album Lyburnum Wits End Liberation Fly was recorded throughout 1988 but not released until 1993. The group disbanded in 1991 after releasing their third EP Memorial. Post-breakup, members pursued various musical projects. In July 2008, Moss Icon was recognized as one of the "23 Bands Who Shaped Punk" by Alternative Press magazine. The band reunited briefly in 2001 and played live shows in December 2014. Their complete discography was released in May 2012 through Temporary Residence Limited.
