Edmund is an Austrian pop-rock band formed in 2017 by Markus Kadensky and Roman Messner. Prior to their collaboration, Messner performed with All Faces Down, while Kadensky played with Freilaut. The duo's partnership began in early 2017 during a jam session. The band name was chosen in honor of the character Edmund “Mundl” Sackbauer from the television series Ein echter Wiener geht nicht unter. The band's debut studio album, Freindschoft, was released on September 21, 2018, and reached number 4 on the Austrian charts. This album featured the hit single “Freindschoft”, which accumulated over 8 million views on YouTube, while subsequent singles such as “Rondstah” and “Lebmsgfüh” each surpassed 800,000 views. In April 2020, the duo released the studio album Leiwand, which won the Amadeus Austrian Music Award for Album of the Year in 2021. The band followed with the studio albums Fein, released on January 28, 2022, and Legende, released on April 11, 2025, which both reached number 1 on the Austrian charts.
