Robert Walter, born May 3, 1970, in San Diego, California, is an American soul jazz keyboard player known for his involvement with the Greyboy Allstars. Walter began on piano before adopting the organ, learning from Dr. Lonnie Smith and Reuben Wilson. His early career included the 1992 release Half Man Half Pie and the EP Bad Radio (1993) with Creedle. In 1993, he co-founded The Greyboy Allstars, which gained a following in San Diego and Europe. Walter’s solo discography progressed with Spirit of '70 (1996), There Goes the Neighborhood (2001), Super Heavy Organ (2005), Cure All (2008), Spacesuit (2018), and Better Feathers (2022). He has collaborated with Fred Wesley, Roger Waters, and Mike Gordon, toured globally, contributed to numerous film scores, and appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2022.
