Ad Vanderveen, born Arend van der Veen on September 21, 1956, in Hilversum, Netherlands, is a Dutch singer-songwriter. He began playing in rock-and-roll bands at age 14 and was part of the band Brinker, which released two singles in 1977. In 1980, he formed the country-rock band The Cotton Brothers and later led the band Personnel, which released the albums On Strike (1983) and Off the Record (1986). In 1988, he began collaborating with Philip Kroonenberg in Personnel and their album, Continuing Stories (1992), was recorded in Nashville, Tennessee. Vanderveen began his solo career in 1993 with Travel Light and has since released numerous albums, including collaborations with David Olney, Eliza Gilkyson, and Iain Matthews. His album Candle To You reached Number 1 on the Euro Americana Charts in 2022, and he released Heart Of Every Town in 2023.
