Magnog was an American space rock and post-rock band formed in 1993 from the remnants of Space Helmet. The group included Jeff Reilly on bass and guitar, Dana Shinn on drums, and Phil Drake on guitar, with all members contributing vocals and keyboards. Magnog signed with Kranky Records and released their self-titled debut album, Magnog, in May 1996, which drew comparisons to early Pink Floyd and German Krautrock bands. They followed up with the double CD release More Weather in November 1997, featuring tracks from demo tapes recorded between 1994 and 1997. The band performed at notable events such as the Vienna Jazz Festival and shared the stage with Pearl Jam and Neil Young in Seattle. Following their breakup, Reilly continued his musical career under the name Octal. Magnog reunited for live performances in 2011, but Phil Drake passed away on November 8, 2015.
