The Dead Texan was an American audio-visual musical duo from Austin, Texas, active between 2004 and 2007. The project consisted of composer Adam Wiltzie and filmmaker Christina Vantzou. Wiltzie, also known for the ambient project Stars of the Lid, composed drone soundscapes while Vantzou created accompanying visual material. Their only release, the eponymous album The Dead Texan (2004), was a CD/DVD package featuring ambient music with occasional vocals. The DVD included seven visual sections totaling thirty minutes of viewing time. Following several tours, the duo concluded the project, and a vinyl reissue of the album was released in 2022.
