Ramachandra Borcar, also known professionally as Ramasutra and DJ Ram, born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, is a Canadian composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist of mixed Indian and Danish descent. He studied classical composition, orchestration, and electro-acoustic music at McGill University. Under the moniker Ramasutra, Borcar released his self-produced debut album, The East Infection (1999), which earned a Félix Award in 2000 and a Juno Award nomination. He followed with the EP El Pipo Del Taxi (2003), winning a Mimi Award for Best Producer. Under his own name, he released Steel And Glass (2005), which was his score for the documentary Regular or Super (2004). Borcar composed scores for over 100 television episodes and 30 films, including Soft Shell Man (2001), which won a Jutra Award in 2002, and Karsh Is History (2009), which earned a Gemini Award nomination. His score for Rock Paper Scissors (2013) won a Jutra Award for Best Original Score in 2014. Borcar contributed original music to the video game Far Cry 4 (2014) and scored the television series L'Imposteur (2016), winning two Gémeaux Awards in 2017. He also received a 2022 International Documentary Association Award for his score to The Melt Goes On Forever: The Art and Times of David Hammons.
