Buccaneer, born Andrew Patrick Bradford in Jamaica in 1974, is a Jamaican dancehall musician and record producer. Raised in Kingston, he learned classical piano as a child before adopting his pirate-themed stage persona. He achieved his breakthrough in 1994 with the hit single “Hey Yah Hey Yah”, followed by collaborations with Wayne Wonder including “Sensi Ride” and “Trust”. He released his debut studio album, Now There Goes the Neighbourhood, in 1995, and gained wider recognition for integrating classical opera melodies into dancehall music, notably on his 1995 single “Skettel Concerto”. His subsequent studio albums include Classic in 1997—incorporating themes from Beethoven and Strauss—and Da Opera in 1998, featuring the single “Fade Away”, which sampled Enya's “Orinoco Flow”. He later established the record label Opera House, producing recordings for artists including Mavado, Vybz Kartel, and Sean Paul, before releasing his compilation album, The Darkside, in 2014.
