The Heartless Crew, a UK garage group formed in 1992 in North London, consisted of MC Bushkin, MC Mighty Moe, and DJ Fonti, whose backgrounds spanned West Indian, Palestinian, and Iraqi heritage. The trio began by operating a mobile sound system that blended hip hop, R&B, and ragga before focusing on UK garage, gaining early traction through residencies at Chimes nightclub and pirate radio stations such as Mission 90.6 FM, Freek FM 101.8, and Y2K FM 90.6. Their breakthrough came with the 2002 single "The Heartless Theme" a.k.a. "The Superglue Riddim", which peaked at number 21 on the UK Singles Chart and was accompanied by a music video directed by Andy Hylton; the same year they signed to BBC Radio 1Xtra, hosting a Sunday evening programme, and released the compilation album Heartless Crew presents Crisp Biscuit Vol 1 on the East West label, which reached number 10 on the UK Compilation Album Chart. The crew received a MOBO Award nomination in 2002, left 1Xtra in 2006, and announced a split in 2010 to pursue solo projects, though they reunited in 2016 for a sold‑out performance at Garage Nation Festival and continued touring at major events such as Notting Hill Carnival, the o2 Academy in Leicester, and the Snowbombing festival in Austria. Their legacy is marked by chart success, radio influence, and a pivotal role in the transition from UK garage to grime.
