Zoetrope was an American heavy metal band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1976 by drummer Barry Stern, guitarist Kevin Michael Rasofsky, and bassist Calvin “Willis” Humphrey. The trio was soon joined by second guitarist Ken Black. After several years performing locally, the band signed with Combat Records and released their debut album, Amnesty, in 1985. Their second album, A Life of Crime, followed in 1987 and was produced by Randy Burns. After touring in support of the album, Stern left the band to join Trouble. Zoetrope later returned with a revised lineup and released Mind Over Splatter in 1993, after which the group disbanded. Barry Stern died in 2005.
