Phonothek is a Georgian dark ambient and dark jazz duo from Tbilisi, formed in 2015. The duo consists of the trumpeter George Shamanauri and the singer Nina Sublatti. Shamanauri studied at the Staatliches Wano-Saradschischwili-Konservatorium and the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln before working as an orchestral soloist. Sublatti established her career through the competition Sakartwelos warskwlawi and her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2015. The duo issued its debut studio album, Lost in Fog, on 17 May 2016 through the label Cryo Chamber. This was followed by the albums Red Moon (2017) and Styx (2020), both released via the same label. Their work is frequently compared to projects such as Bohren & der Club of Gore and The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble.
