Brian Ross Weitz, known professionally as Geologist, was born on March 26, 1979, in Philadelphia. He is a singer and electronic sound manipulator best known for his work with the experimental pop group Animal Collective. Weitz attended the Park School of Baltimore where he met future bandmates David Portner (Avey Tare) and Josh Dibb (Deakin). The trio, along with Noah Lennox (Panda Bear), formed various musical projects during their high school years and college breaks. Geologist's first appearance on an Animal Collective release was on Danse Manatee in 2001. He has contributed to every subsequent album except for Sung Tongs and Campfire Songs. In addition to his work with Animal Collective, Weitz released the limited edition cassette Live in the Land of the Sky in April 2018, marking his first solo release. A Shaw Deal followed in 2025 and Can I Get a Pack of Camel Lights? saw its release in early 2026.
