Tiles, an American progressive rock band from Detroit, Michigan, formed in 1993. The group released their self-titled debut album in 1994, which gained international success and led to a signing with Inside Out Music. Their second album, Fence the Clear, was released in 1997, followed by Presents of Mind in 1999. Tiles toured Europe as the opening act for Dream Theater in support of this release. In 2004, they issued their fourth album, Window Dressing. The band's fifth studio album, Fly Paper (2008), featured guest guitar work by Alex Lifeson of Rush. In 2016, the band released Pretending 2 Run, which featured performances by Mike Portnoy and Ian Anderson. The band continued to perform live until 2018, when singer Paul Rarick announced his retirement from the group after their tour in April.
