Jadis, a British progressive rock band formed in 1982, originated from Southampton. Founded by Gary Chandler, who initially performed as a singer and guitarist at local venues, the band released their first album Jadis in 1989. Their lineup also stabilized with Chandler, Trevor Dawkins on bass, Martin Orford on keyboards, John Jowitt on bass, and Steve Christey on drums. Their breakthrough came in 1992 with the release of More than Meets the Eye, followed by Across the Water (1994), which was named Album of the Year by the Classic Rock Society UK. Jadis continued to tour extensively across Europe and released several notable albums, including Somersault (1997) and Understand (2000). Despite lineup changes, Jadis continued to produce music, releasing See Right Through You (2012), No Fear of Looking Down (2016), and More Questions than Answers (2024).
