Cloudboy, an electronic music group, was formed in Dunedin, New Zealand, with a core lineup that included vocalist Demarnia Lloyd, keyboardist Johannes Contag and multi‑instrumentalist Craig Monk. Active between 1995 and 2003, the group, which included drummer Chris O'Connor from 2001 to 2003, evolved from the earlier collective Mink, shifting from poppy dance to a darker, introspective sound. Their debut self‑titled mini‑album was released in 1995 on Infinite Regress, followed by the single "Pet" on Flying Nun Records in 1996. In 2001, the band released the studio album Down at the End of the Garden through Arclife Records, receiving critical acclaim and reaching number 3 on the Recorded Music NZ chart. Cloudboy toured extensively in support of the album, performing in Germany, Scandinavia, and the United Kingdom, with shows that were known for their mix of music and theatre.
