Pessimist is a German thrash‑metal group founded in 2006 in Weil am Rhein by vocalist Michael “TZ” Schweitzer and guitarists Patrick “Peppi” Pfefferle and Robin Maurer, later joined drummer Raphael “Zagge” Gamboni, and bassist Severin “Das Schwein” Wössner. The band’s breakthrough came with the demo Nuclear Holocaust in 2007, followed by a win at the Baden in Blut – Blood Battle Contest that secured a spot at the Baden in Blut Open Air Festival. Their debut studio album Call to War was released in 2010 under Firefield Records, after which they toured with established acts such as Diamond Head and Blitzkrieg. In 2017, they released their self‑titled album. The band disbanded in 2025.
